5 Capitals has worked with ACWA Power CSR Team to develop and implement an Environment and Health & Safety (EHS) risk identification and management system for the company’s corporate activities in Dubai, Beijing, and Riyadh.
This process included a review of legal obligations falling upon ACWA Power, prior to a comprehensive review of the risks arising in relation to key EHS parameters in each of the major corporate functions. This resulted in the creation of a corporate risk matrix summarizing these risks, including details of their nature, their potential severity, and the activity in relation to which they might arise.
Having identified the risks, measures for their management were identified. Risk management procedures were developed in partnership with key figures in each business stream and subsequently were communicated to the relevant parties for integration into wider business procedures. Briefing sessions were held with those responsible for actioning the management procedures and training sessions were undertaken with those responsible for supervising their implementation.
Whilst the process undertaken was bespoke to ACWA Power, the outputs were aligned with the fundamental requirements of internationally recognised management systems (ISO14000 series & OHSAS 18000 series). Certification to these standards will be undertaken pending finalisation of office locations after the current period of transition in both Riyadh and Dubai.
